On the occasion of the 11th European Transnational Championships held in Poznań a historical agreement was signed concerning the future of the European Winter Transnational Championships (EWTC).
The European Bridge League, the Czech Bridge Federation and the AVE-CHESS z.s. agreed that Prague will host five consecutive editions of the EWTC from 2026 to 2030. This marks the first time in EBL history that a long-term hosting agreement has been signed. The parties successfully collaborated for the 2025 edition of the EWTC and decided to continue the cooperation.
It was further agreed that the EWTC will take place at the Top Congress Hotel in Prague (the same venue used in 2025). The Championships will be held annually in February, lasting a maximum of 16 playing days (with exception for 2026 edition when the venue will be available for a shorter time) ending always on the Thursday (last playing day) before the last whole weekend of February. The 2026 edition will be held from February 10th to February 19th (10 playing days). The EBL is planning to organize Mixed Teams championships in the first week, followed by Open Teams Championships in the second week. The detailed schedule and Supplemental Conditions of Contest (sCoC) of each tournament will be published once finalized.
