The appearance of the Covid-19 virus has introduced a new and unwelcome dynamic into our daily lives, one which we cannot ignore.
The EBL is considering very carefully what actions need to be taken in relation to the holding of the European National Teams Championships scheduled for Funchal in Madeira in June, and the Youth National Pairs Championships scheduled for Salsomaggiore, Italy, in August.
The situation is fluid and we need to allow some more time to assess the often-conflicting information about the scope and spread of this infection. We must also listen to the health professionals’ and governments’ advice for its citizens.
The EBL will do everything within reason to stage these championships as scheduled, but the possibility of rescheduling or cancelation cannot be ignored. It may be prudent not to book non-refundable travel or accommodation until the picture becomes clearer. Updates will appear as soon as feasible.
