Europeans do well at the 2013 SAWMG

Three medals came the way of the European teams competing in the 3rd SportAccord World Mind Games which took place in December 2013 in Beijing. In the first tournament of the Games Monaco  represented by Fulvio FantoniClaudio NunesGeir HelgemoTor HelnessFranck Multon &Pierre Zimmermann (pictured left) won the Gold in the Open Teams, with Poland coming second. In the Women’s teams England was narrowly beaten on the very last board by China to give them the Silver Medal.

In the Mens Pairs Championship, Fulvio Fantoni & Claudio Nunes (Monaco) triumphed, with the Polish pair Krzysztof Buras and Andrzej Narkiewicz taking the Bronze. In the Women’s Pairs, Heather Dhondy & Nevena Senior took their second Silver of the Games with the young Israeli Pair Naga and Dana Tal winning the Bronze.

In the Mens Individual Championship, Cezary Balicki from Poland took the Gold Medal, with Tor Helness of Norway winning the Silver.
