Player feedback, our next steps

Dear Bridge Friends,

During summer 2025, the World Bridge Federation and the European Bridge League organized two major international events in Poznań (Poland) and Herning (Denmark). After each event, we invited all participants to share their opinions through post-event surveys.

We are grateful for the many responses we received and would like to share some of the main insights and the concrete steps we’re taking in response.

Format

After the qualification stages of the main Championships, Board-a-Match events are usually organized to give everyone a fresh chance to compete.

Many participants expressed interest in exploring alternative formats beyond the traditional Board-a-Match. Starting with our upcoming Championships, we plan to introduce additional formats, such as Swiss Teams and Pairs events.

Players also asked for daily Butler rankings to be available. While this will depend on the type of event (for instance, in National team championships this may require approval from Captains) we plan to make Butler rankings available daily for transnational events.

Payment options

We received several requests for more flexible payment options, and our accounting team is currently working on implementing them.

Communication

Some players mentioned that updates about format or schedule changes arrived late. Going forward, all major updates will also appear directly on the event Microsite, so you won’t need to wait for the Daily Bulletin to be published.

We’ll also test a dedicated WhatsApp broadcast channel at the next event, allowing players to receive important announcements and last-minute updates instantly. If the experiment proves successful, it will be repeated at future Championships.

Presentation of Results

Many players felt that the results presentation on our Microsites looked somewhat outdated. Our IT team will work on redesigning this area. This will be an ongoing process over several months, and your continued feedback will be invaluable.

Daily Bulletins

The Daily Bulletins received positive comments, but players asked for a broader variety of content. The editorial team is already working on this evolution, which will take shape over the next season.

Thank you once again to players who took part in these events and shared their feedback, which truly helps us improve the experience for everyone involved.

Warm regards,

Eric Laurant
