The European Bridge League is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ton Kooijman.
Throughout his long and distinguished career, Ton made immense contributions to the EBL as Chairman of the Laws and Ethics Committee, Operations Director, and Chief Tournament Director across countless European Championships. His sharp intellect, unparalleled understanding of the Laws, and relentless defense of fairness and sportsmanship set the gold standard for tournament direction and bridge administration across our continent.
To many, Ton was more than an exceptional official; he was a trusted guide, a mentor to countless European tournament directors, and a cherished friend whose wisdom and integrity inspired all who worked alongside him.
