Message from the EBL President
I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Susanna Gross.
She was meant to be with us in Jurmala for the European Women’s Champions Cup, representing England, but at the last moment her condition worsened and she was unable to join. Her passing is a great loss to the bridge community.
On behalf of the EBL, I extend our deepest condolences to her family, teammates, and friends.

The event is held at the Baltic Beach Hotel in Jurmala. Throughout the day, players have been arriving and preparing to begin play tomorrow morning.
This is an invitational event. For each series, 12 teams have been invited, selected according to the following criteria:
Open Series
- The winners of the National Club Championships from the top nine countries in the most recent European Open Teams Championship (Herning 2024): Norway, Switzerland, Italy, England, Israel, Belgium, Sweden, France, and Bulgaria.
- The team of the club who won the last European Champions’ Cup, so a team playing for the Dutch club BC De Lombard.
- One team from the winner of the 2024 European Small Federations Championships: Serbia.
- One team representing the host nation, Latvia.
Women’s Series
- The winners of the National Club (or equivalent) Championships from the top eight countries in the most recent European Women’s Teams Championship (Herning 2024): Norway, France, Turkiye, Italy, Poland, England, the Netherlands, and Denmark.
- The defending champions, the English Champions team.
- One team representing the host nation, Latvia.
- The top two teams from the 2025 European Online Women’s Teams Championship (Women Online 2025): Viking Girls (from Norway) and Masa of Magic (Poland).
In both series, the event begins with a round-robin stage, after which the top four teams will advance to the semi-finals to compete for the title, while the remaining teams will play for their final rankings.
