Last night, the final boards of the 1st European Youth Online Teams Championships were played and it was an exciting finale.

In the U16 finals, Latvia after three close segments had a very strong finish, bringing the score against Sweden to a whooping 128–77.

In the U21, the match between England and Poland was close throughout. Losing 14 IMPs on the last hand, England was still able to keep the Polish team behind winning by 94–87.

In the U26 category Israel and Denmark were only a few IMPs apart going in to last night’s segments. Israel had a great evening and came out victorious with an impressive 134–87.

In our most senior category, U31, France had a fairly comfortable lead after the first two segments over Latvia. France never lost the lead and could in the end call themselves champions with a winning score of 121–77.

The first online championships are over. Next up is some face-to-face youth bridge in the Youth World Teams Championships (July 12–17) and European Youth Pairs Championships (July 18–23) in Salsomaggiore, Italy. Don’t miss out!
